‘sPoochies Spa and Boutique

What better way for your pup to bring in the new year than a clean fresh look! ‘sPoochies Spa and Boutique is an awesome place to check out. Located on Tremont Street, it is great even if you’re just walking around the Boston area and think that your fur ball could use a good scrub down.  I know Riley needs a wash at least a couple times a week and sometimes I just don’t feel like scrubbing her down myself.  Great alternative is for someone else to do it! The employees are really great and they absolutely love dogs.  Riley is always very excited to see them when we walk through the door.  The place itself is super cute.  They sell cool unique dog toys and treat that Riley just can’t get enough of.  They also sell bowls, beds, and pet accessories to spoil your pup.  Sometime we all need a spa day so why not let your buddy get one too? Riley will not be visiting this spa again anytime soon, this was a special because they are a little pricey.  However, if you feel like your pup has been extra good this year, its worth checking out.

Nine Zero Hotel

Riley and I are Boston natives, as are the rest of my family.  However, now that we are all grown up, we are scattered all over the place.  Boston is where we all come together for the holidays but there isn’t enough room for all my sibling, cousins, aunt, uncles and their dogs!  So when they are trying to find a place to crash I recommended the Nine Zero Hotel.  Located on Tremont Street, I have heard nothing but great things about this Hotel.  Some took my advice and others wished they had taken my advice.  My Brother stayed at the Nine Zero and he loved it.  This Hotel doesn’t have weight restrictions so whether your dog weighs 15lbs or 150lbs, they are all welcome! That isn’t always easy to find.  They provide food and water bowls, gourmet treats along with grooming, walking and pet sitting services.  The hotel has a cool urban look to it which made it comfortable to stay in.  My Brother raved about the hotel which made my aunt pretty upset that she decided to stay with noisy relatives instead.  So, if you have any relatives that just can’t seem to find a place to stay while they visit.  Let them know about Nine Zero, they will be thrilled!

Pawsh Dog Boutique & Salon

pawsh_balki1_web.jpg

Once the snow starts to fall, Riley knows Christmas is right around the corner.  And, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m totally one of those owners that spoils there pup at Christmas time.  I don’t like to get Riley just the same old bones, kongs, and greenies that she gets on a regular basis.   I like to try and find special, unique toys.  PawshDog Boutique is a new boutique located in the Back Bay.  They have a wide variety of toys that Riley is going to do flips over on Christmas morning.  They also have sweaters and booties for the winter so your pup can play in the snow and not worry about getting cold or getting salt in their paws.  The Boutique itself is very cute.  It has a fun, playful feel to it.  What I really liked about the Boutique is that it has a delivery service.  With the store in the Back Bay, there are many people in the area without cars.  I’m sure this is a service that will be used a fair amount.  Another thing about the Boutique that I loved was that for every holiday themed toy, winter coat and gift card sold from Now through the end of the year, a portion of the proceeds will go to MSPCA-Angell.  So, if you have a pup that was good this year, or even a friends with dogs who would love some stylish apparel or some cool new toys, this Boutique is worth checking out.  I know I will be picking up some all organic treats for Riley and probably a gift certificate to their salon!

Middlesex Fells Reservation

spot_pond.JPG

This weekend Riley and I were feeling adventurous, so we decided to check out Middlesex Fells Reservation.  My roommate was the one that introduced us to this reservation and luckily she came with us on our visit.  This reservation is HUGE, so if you do decide to check it out, I would recommend going with someone that is familiar with the area or do a little research about the trails before going or else you could get lost.  Trail running isn’t something we do very often, however now we might start making it a weekly routine. Riley absolutely loved the Fells.  It was beautiful and best of all it was packed with other people and their dogs.  I did hear there was a section of the reservation that had an off-leash park, but we were so tired after our run that we never made it there.  While you and your pup are one the trails, you must keep them leashed.  If a ranger catches your pup off his or her leash, they will slap you with a hundred dollar fine.  You will also find many people riding their bikes along the trails.  I saw a couple people riding their bikes with their pups on their leashing running along side them! I was pretty impressed! Riley and I haven’t mastered that yet.  Parking can be a hassle but it is worth the wait.  Riley and I will be back this weekend.

Testimonials

Running the Pack is absolutely wonderful.  When I first got my puppy, Jill walked me through what the best walking schedule would best, as well as passed along some advice about how to make sure the walks that he was on with me were encouraging him to be the best little doggy-citizen he could be….I love how committed and caring Jill and all her staff are.
