Dog Friendly Places: The Dish

Riley is always begging to go out to dinner. So this week we checked out The Dish which is in the South End. Riley and I are big fan’s of the South End, so whenever we hear about pet friendly restaurants around the area, you don’t have to ask us twice to see what’s good about them. The outdoor patio was a decent size and I had to peak inside to see what it looked like. I thought it was very cool and the style of the bar was very unique and different. I think the best part about The Dish was the staff. Probably the friendliest waitstaff in Boston. However, I could be saying that because they all loved Riley and continued to tell us how awesome she was. Her good looks scored her a bowl of water and some bread rolls, lucky dog. The full bar is what seemed to get my roommates to keep going back for more and the food was pretty great too, we had the Italian pizza of which we ate every last bite. The prices were a bit expensive for me but it is the South End, so I wasn’t too surprised.

Dog Friendly Places: Nunziato Field Dog Park

A park that Riley is very familiar with is Nunziato Field, located at Putnam & Summer St in Somerville. The park itself is nothing special to look at; The ground is paved and it is completely enclosed by a chain-link fence. Usually there are disposable bags attached to the fence to make it more convenient for you to make sure the park stays clean. Now, even though the park isn’t the prettiest park I have ever seen, the people and the other dogs that go there are what make it great. No matter what time you and your pup go, there’s always someone there with their dog, running around, playing fetch. However, once the clock hits 6pm is when the real party begins. Everyone brings there pup here to burn off all that energy they have built up while their owners are at work. So while your dog can go crazy and run around with twenty other dogs, you get to hang out with
all the other friendly owners that are sitting around the picnic. The more I go to this park, the better I get to know the regulars and their pups. Riley has made some amazing friends of all different breeds and we will continue to be visitors of Nunziato Field.

The Kinsale Irish Pub and Restaurant

The Kinsale Irish Pub is the latest restaurant Riley and I have been to, and we loved it! Located at 2 Center Plaza in Boston, this restaurant is so unique. Now, I know there are hundreds of Irish pubs around the area but this was is special. This Pub is completely authentic. It was built in Ireland and transported here brick by brick. The inside is filled with wood, stone, large murals and Irish music playing in the background.

The outdoor patio is huge with lots of other people dining out with their pups. During the nice weather, you might have a while to wait for the patio, but the bartenders are super friendly and have a wide variety of beer and wine to serve you while you wait. While we were dining, we happen to sit next to a couple with a 3 year old lab that got along great with Riley. They sat quietly together while we ate our dinner. However, Riley couldn’t help but drool over my Irish beef stew, which was delicious. I thought the food was reasonable priced and the service was friendly but a little slow. Also, customers spending over $20 enjoy free validated parking in the neighboring Center Plaza Garage, any time on weekends or after 6pm on weekdays. We will definitely be going back for more Irish fun very soon.

Dog Friendly Places: North Point Park

North Point Park:

This park has been under construction for a while now and it is finally finished and just waiting for you and your pup to check it out. Located in East Cambridge at 1 N Point Blvd, Riley and I ventured over to this park last week and we loved it. Lots of other dogs for Riley to play with and very friendly owners for me to chat with. This is a great park for full time mothers since there are four different area’s with play equipment for children. One section even has water sprinklers, so if it gets too hot and the little ones need to cool down, they can.

Riley and I saw quite a few families with their children and dogs taking advantage of all the space the park has to offer. There are plenty of shaded area’s and benches in the park to relax, have a picnic or even if you just need a break from running around with your pup. This park has beautiful scenery, when Riley was finally tired from playing we sat down on a blanket and watched the boats and the kayaks go by on the Charles River for at least an hour. I will definitely be going back to North Point Park very soon.

When you are visiting this park with your pup, make sure to keep them under control. There are a lot of little kids running around there too so we want to make sure everyone is safe. Also, the park provides disposable bags so please pick up after your dog. I found myself picking up abandoned dog waste that was left around the park. Make sure to keep an eye on your pup so we can keep this park clean.

Testimonials

Things I love about running the pack? Scheduling and payment can take place on line. There’s flexibility so if we need to cancel a walk one day, it’s usually not a problem… Also, we get daily updates from the walker who gives us a quick run down of what they did on the walk (park, trails, etc) and whether or not our dog did her business.
